Abuja, September 23, 2025 — The National Assembly has reopened the office of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central, bringing to an end months of restriction following her suspension.
The office, located in Suite 2.05 of the Senate Wing, was unsealed on Tuesday morning by the Sergeant-at-Arms of the National Assembly in the presence of combined security personnel, according to Channels Television.
Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan was slammed with a six-month suspension in March 2025 after she protested the reassignment of her seat by Senate President Godswill Akpabio on February 20. The suspension barred her from all activities of the 10th Senate.
Although the suspension formally lapsed in September, the lawmaker had faced delays in resuming duties due to legal tussles and opposition from Senate leadership.
Last week, Akpoti-Uduaghan formally wrote to the Senate notifying them of her readiness to return to legislative duties. The letter was initially rejected, sparking fresh controversy over her status.
Tuesday’s development effectively restores her access to her office, but it remains unclear whether the Senate leadership will fully reintegrate her into parliamentary activities when plenary resumes in October.
