Voting commenced smoothly on Saturday morning at Polling Unit 022, Ward F, Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos State — the designated polling unit of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu — as residents turned out to participate in the ongoing local government elections.
Officials of the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) arrived at the venue early, with both accreditation and voting procedures beginning as scheduled.
At exactly 8:40 a.m., the first set of voters began casting their ballots to elect a new local government chairman and councillor for the area.
A noticeable security presence was observed at the polling unit, with police officers on the ground to ensure orderliness and safety. Party agents were also stationed nearby to monitor the electoral process.
The election is part of a statewide exercise taking place across Lagos’ 20 local government areas and 37 local council development areas.
