Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has responded to remarks made by Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo, who criticised and mocked Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke over his frequent dancing at public events.
Davido reacted by sharing what appeared to be Governor Okpebholo’s West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) result on his verified Instagram story, a move that quickly generated widespread reactions across social media.
The singer’s response followed the circulation of a video in which Governor Okpebholo criticised Governor Adeleke’s leadership style during a political gathering, urging Osun voters not to support the incumbent governor in the forthcoming governorship election.
In the video, Okpebholo questioned Adeleke’s habit of dancing at official functions, suggesting that the governor’s conduct did not reflect the seriousness required for governance.
He also alleged that Adeleke was disconnected from the realities of governance and urged residents of Osun State not to be influenced by financial inducements during the election, advising them to reject such offers at the polls.
Shortly after the video gained traction online, Davido posted a document believed to be Governor Okpebholo’s WASSCE result on his Instagram story without any accompanying caption or explanation.
The document displayed grades including D7 in Commerce, Christian Religious Knowledge, Economics and English Language, E8 in Government and C5 in Mathematics.
The post sparked intense reactions on social media, with users expressing differing views over the exchange between the music star and the Edo State governor.
As of the time of filing this report, Davido had not issued any further statement regarding the post, while Governor Okpebholo had yet to publicly respond to the singer’s action.
