Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa was captured in a viral video on Friday returning to his roots as an educator by teaching pupils in a classroom at an undisclosed school within the state.
The video, posted on the governor’s official Facebook page with the caption “Once a teacher, always a teacher,” shows Aiyedatiwa engaging students in a lively lesson on drug education, writing the word “Drugs” on the board and encouraging the pupils to identify different forms of drugs.
The classroom visit follows the governor’s recent approval of the recruitment of 1,100 primary school teachers across the state’s 18 local government areas—part of a broader effort to revamp the education sector under the 2023/2024 UBEC/SUBEB intervention initiative.
In a statement accompanying the video, Governor Aiyedatiwa highlighted ongoing reforms in the state’s education system, including the distribution of over 75,000 textbooks, Android tablets, and sports equipment to public schools.
“This initiative underscores our unwavering commitment to quality education for every child, regardless of background,” he said.
He also noted that construction and rehabilitation are underway in over 100 schools, and that more than 2,100 teachers have been newly recruited, trained, and empowered as part of a comprehensive effort to strengthen teaching standards and learning environments across Ondo State.
