The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for signing into law the bill establishing the Northwest Development Commission.
In a statement on Thursday, the National Publicity Secretary of ACF, Prof. Muhammad-Baba, expressed the forum’s confidence that the new law marks a significant milestone, promising a new era of development for the people of the geopolitical zone.
“ACF extends warm appreciation and gratitude to Alhaji Bola Ahmed Tinubu, President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” Prof. Muhammad-Baba stated.
The forum also acknowledged the efforts of the Deputy President of the 10th Senate of the Federation and all contributors to the enactment of the law, expressing their gratitude for their roles.
Highlighting the challenges faced by the Northwest, the ACF noted that the region remains at the bottom of Nigeria’s developmental indices and living conditions, plagued by insecurity, banditry, and terrorism.
“It remains to be said that all hands must be on deck to ensure that the new law will utilize the resources allocated to the Commission to make a visible impact on the lives of the people,” the forum advised.
ACF emphasized that the law marks a new vista in the socio-economic and political development of the zone, urging collective efforts to eradicate underdevelopment and improve the lives of the largely agrarian population in the region.
