INTERNATIONALLY RENOWNED MULTI-AWARD WINNING JOURNALIST, BASHORUN DELE MOMODU ADDS TO HIS CHIEFTANCY CAPS

Recently, the paramount ruler of the ancient town of Iwo, HRM Oba (Dr.) Abdulrasheed Adewale Akanbi (Telu I) announced plans to confer on the global acclaimed image maker and Journalist, Chief Dele Momodu, and his wife, Chief (Mrs.) Mobolaji Abiodun Momodu, as Aare Tayese and Yeye Aare Tayese of Iwo kingdom. This honour bestowed on the award-winning Chief Dele Momodu and his beautiful wife, by the traditional ruler, adds to the several other feathers of his proverbial glittering cap.  

A dedicated patriot whose lifelong pursuit of putting the nation’s name on the global map, Chief Momodu has distinguished himself as an accomplished professional whose contributions to national discourse and advocacy for a better Nigeria remains a reference point for posterity. His outspokenness as a fearless journalist as one of the several warriors against the then Abacha junta; working in the trenches with other comrades helped sustain the Nigerian investigative journalism space of the 90s.

Chief Momodu, a respected wordsmith and veteran journalist, has over the years stamped his identity as a social crusader, valiant forerunner of democracy and a willful advocate for progress. An industrious scion of the great Momodu family, the Multiple Award-winning Chief Momodu is a purposeful media baron whose remarkable establishment of the iconic Ovation Magazine, Ovation TV, the Ovation Christmas Carol amongst other innovations have remained the stable of topnotch information and entertainment in the country.

The conferment of the traditional chieftaincy title on Chief Dele Momodu as the Aare Tayese of Iwoland alongside his wife, Chief (Mrs.) Abiodun Momodu as the Yeye Tayese is an honour that embodies their passion for humanity. The conferment of the prestigious titles underscore intently the towering contributions of this great family to the body polity – his wife, a true definition of the immense roles played by women as a partner in progress of family.

In a letter by HRM, Oba (Dr.) Abdulrasheed Adewale Akanbi (Telu I), the renowned monarch acknowledged the patriotic contributions of Chief Momodu, stating clearly the rationale for the honour. The Oluwo (Oba Akanbi) noted that Momodu ‘’…contributed immensely to the promotion of Yoruba culture and tradition, and your mental beneficence through national and international media in ensuring quality governance and delivery…’’
