The Board of Directors of First City Monument Bank (FCMB) has confirmed the appointment of acting Managing Director Yemisi Edun to retain the seat. Ms Edun who took over the reins of day-to-day running of the celebrated bank was chosen to replace the former embattled MD Adam Nuru amidst unsavoury circumstances. While Ms Edun occupied the elevated seat, Mr. Adam was told to proceed on leave. The newly appointed Ms. Edun was former Executive Director/Chief Financial Officer of the bank.

On Tuesday, July 13, 2021, Ms Edun’s appointment upon statutory confirmation of her appointment by the the Central Bank of Nigeria and the Nigerian Exchange Limited was confirmed. Although the bank confirms that the allegation of infidelity scandal of Mr. Nuru and a certain employee of the bank was investigated thoroughly and that there were no shady dealings of any sort in their findings.
The probe which was a celebrated case attracted no fewer than 1,400 petitions signed by Nigerians of all strata. The story goes thus that the said employee (Mrs. Moyo Thomas) was said to have informed her late husband of her decision to leave for the United State with the kids, called Mr Thomas on arrival that none of the two kids, who had known the 45-year-old as their father, was not his.
