The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Mohammadu Buhari on Wednesday, July 7, 2021 decorated Farouk Yahaya with the rank of Lt. General as the newly appointed Chief of Army Staff.
The ceremony was attended by high powered military officers and government functionaries. The event took place at the First Lady’s Conference Room, Presidential Villa, Abuja, was attended by top military brass including the Chief of Defence Staff, General Lucky Irabor, Chief of the Air, Air Marshal Isiaka Amao, Chief of Defence Intelligence (CDI), Major General Sunday Adebayo, DG Department of State Service (DSS), Yusuf Bichi, and the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Usman Alkali Baba.
Also present were honorable members of the Presidential Cabinet; the Chairman of Senate Committee on Army, Senator Ali Ndume, and Chairman from the House of Representatives.
