The Inspector General of Police, Adamu Mohammed has announced the immediate disbandment of the special anti-robbery squad (SARS). This is s a fallout of the nationwide protests over the brutal nature of the outfit. The announcement was made this Sunday afternoon in Abuja.
It would be recalled that in the past several days, there has been nationwide outcry against the existence of SARS with protesters having support from even several world leaders. The universality of this protest must have forced the hand of the police chief.
