The Executive Chairman of Onigbongbo Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Moyosore Adebanjo, today received the winner and first runner-up of the Miss Ikeja Heritage Pageant in his office, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to youth development, female empowerment, and the promotion of talent within the community.

The winner, Odenike Mofisinoluwa Dorcas, who hails from Onigbongbo LCDA, was accompanied by her father, Mr. Funmiade Bank-Anthony; the organizer of the Miss Ikeja Heritage Pageant; the first runner-up; and other well-wishers on the courtesy visit to the Chairman.

During the meeting, Hon. Adebanjo congratulated both contestants for their participation and achievements, encouraging them to remain confident and committed to their aspirations, regardless of the outcome of the competition.

Addressing other contestants present, the Chairman stated that not winning a competition does not diminish an individual’s potential or ability to succeed.
“You didn’t win, but that doesn’t mean you didn’t have what it takes to be a winner. Every experience is an opportunity to learn, grow and prepare for greater achievements,” he said.

Hon. Moyosore Adebanjo further assured both contestants that the council would present them with gifts in recognition of their efforts and as proud daughters of Onigbongbo LCDA. The APC Deputy Governorship candidates also supported the winner and other contestants with cash gifts.
He also disclosed his intention to engage relevant stakeholders to explore the possibility of facilitating Dorcas’s participation in the next United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), describing it as an opportunity that could broaden her exposure, deepen her understanding of global issues and inspire her future endeavours.

In her response, Dorcas expressed profound appreciation to the Chairman and the entire Onigbongbo LCDA community for their support throughout her journey to winning the Miss Ikeja Heritage crown. She acknowledged the encouragement she had received and commended the administration of Hon. Moyosore Adebanjo for its ongoing developmental efforts.
The beauty queen pledged to use her platform to communicate the achievements of the current administration to her peers and other young people, ensuring that more residents become aware of the council’s initiatives and their impact on the community.
Dorcas also presented her pet project, which focuses on the development and empowerment of young girls through a mentorship platform designed to guide them in making informed career choices, discovering their potential and preparing for future opportunities.
The initiative aligns with the broader need to provide young women with access to mentorship, guidance and platforms that support their personal and professional development.
Hon. Moyosore Adebanjo welcomed the vision behind the project and reiterated the importance of empowering young people to become responsible, confident and productive members of society. He encouraged Dorcas to remain focused on her mission and to use her new position to make a meaningful contribution to the lives of other young people
