Voting is underway across Kogi State as residents participate in the local government elections, with voter turnout varying across polling units.
The election is being conducted across 239 wards and 3,508 polling units in the state, with some locations recording high turnout while others have witnessed fewer voters.
The Chairman of the Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission, Mamman Eri, said the commission was committed to ensuring a free, fair and credible election in line with democratic standards.
Electoral officials, security personnel and other stakeholders have also been deployed across the state to support the smooth conduct of the exercise.
Meanwhile, civil society organisations in Kogi State have called for increased voter sensitisation and greater transparency in the electoral process.
The groups also urged the electoral commission to address previous concerns that have undermined public confidence in elections, stressing the importance of building trust in the democratic process.
