The Department of State Services (DSS) has reportedly arrested Faisal Abdulrasheed Maina, son of former chairman of the defunct Pension Reform Task Team, Abdulrasheed Maina, and transferred him to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The arrest, which was reported on Saturday, October 17, 2026, followed intelligence indicating that Faisal had secretly returned to Nigeria after spending several years away from the country.
According to security sources, DSS operatives tracked him to the Karsana area of Abuja, where he was apprehended before being handed over to the EFCC.
Faisal had been on the run since 2020 after facing a three-count charge involving money laundering and related offences brought against him by the anti-graft agency.
In October 2021, the Federal High Court in Abuja convicted him in the case and sentenced him to 14 years in prison. However, the Court of Appeal upheld the conviction in November 2022 but reduced the sentence to seven years.
Court proceedings linked Faisal to a bank account allegedly used in transactions involving ₦58.1 million. The funds were reportedly deposited into an account operated under the name “Alhaji Faisal Farm 2” and withdrawn by Faisal and his father between October 2013 and June 2019.
