Ceremony Holds November 12 in Abuja, Focuses on “Service Over Self”
SIXT-MEDIA LANE, one of Nigeria’s emerging online media platforms, has announced plans for its 2026 Annual Awards and National Leadership Lecture, with the grand ceremony scheduled for November 12 at the Nigerian Army Resource Centre, Asokoro, Abuja.
The event, which is expected to bring together prominent figures from across Nigeria’s political, business, security, media, professional and civil society sectors, will commence at 10:00 a.m. and will be anchored on the theme, “SERVICE OVER SELF: Celebrating Excellence, Honouring Impacts.”
According to the Publisher of SIXT-MEDIA LANE and Chairman of the Planning Committee, Amb. Prince Sixtus Opara, the 2026 edition is designed to recognise Nigerians whose contributions to national development have demonstrated a commitment to service, leadership and humanity beyond personal interest.
Opara said the choice of the theme was informed by the need to deliberately celebrate individuals and organisations whose work continues to make a positive difference in society at a time when public recognition is often associated with personal achievement and prominence.
“In a time when many are chasing personal glory, there are still men and women who are serving selflessly—in governance, business, security, education, health, media, entertainment, entrepreneurship, philanthropy and community development,” he said. “This award is to celebrate excellence and honour their impacts. We want to tell their stories and inspire others to do more.”
The organisers said the awards would cut across a broad spectrum of national life, with distinguished public servants, political leaders, traditional rulers, security chiefs, business leaders, entrepreneurs, humanitarians, clerics, youth icons, outstanding women, media practitioners and organisations expected to be considered for recognition.
Beyond the awards, the ceremony will feature a National Leadership Lecture at which eminent thought leaders are expected to examine critical issues confronting Nigeria and advance practical ideas for strengthening national development, unity and responsible leadership.
The organisers said the lecture would provide an opportunity for participants to engage with pressing national questions while encouraging a broader conversation on leadership, citizenship, institutional development and the collective responsibility of Nigerians to build a stronger country.
Call for Nominations
SIXT-MEDIA LANE has also opened nominations to members of the public, organisations and other stakeholders seeking to recommend individuals or institutions whose contributions deserve national recognition.
The organisers urged Nigerians to nominate people whose leadership, professional excellence, humanitarian activities or community contributions have produced measurable and meaningful impact.
“If you know someone whose service is exceptional, whose leadership is inspiring and whose impact is undeniable, nominate them now,” the organisers said.
Nominations are expected to contain the nominee’s full name, organisation, category of award where applicable, a brief profile outlining the nominee’s achievements and the contact details of the person making the nomination.
The organising committee has also announced opportunities for sponsorship, strategic partnership, media coverage and exhibition stands for interested organisations and individuals.
Opara described the initiative as more than an awards ceremony, stressing that its broader objective was to promote a culture of responsible leadership and public-spirited service.
“This is not just an award; it is a national movement to celebrate genuine service. We want Nigerians to be part of it. Nominate your hero today,” he said.
The SIXT-MEDIA LANE Annual Awards and National Leadership Lecture 2026 is scheduled for November 12, 2026, at the Nigerian Army Resource Centre, Asokoro, Abuja, beginning at 10:00 a.m.
