Customers and employees of LAPO Microfinance Bank (LAPO MFB) are set for a week-long celebration as the 2026 Customer Service Week, themed “The Extra Mile,” holds from October 5 to 9. This is part of its renewed commitment to going the extra mile for its customers, as organisations around the world celebrate the people and practices that create exceptional customer experiences.
Customer Service Week 2026, themed “The Extra Mile,” will take place from October 5 to 9, providing an opportunity for organisations to recognise customer-facing employees, appreciate customers and reinforce service cultures that go beyond expectations.
For LAPO MFB, the theme aligns closely with its 2026 organisational focus, “Exceed the Expectations,” and reflects the institution’s commitment to making every customer interaction meaningful, responsive and solution-driven.
With its 6 million customers spread across 34 states and the FCT, LAPO MFB recognises that exceptional service is built through everyday actions—from the first point of contact at a branch or service centre to interactions through its digital channels, field operations and other customer touchpoints.
During the week, the bank will host a series of activities designed to celebrate customers, recognise employees, promote service excellence and reinforce a culture of going the extra mile.
Speaking ahead of the celebration, Oluremi Akande, Director, Marketing and Communications, LAPO MFB, said going the extra mile must remain a daily commitment rather than a one-week activity.
“At LAPO MFB, going the extra mile means understanding that behind every transaction is a person, a family, a business or a dream. It means listening carefully, responding with empathy and finding ways to make our customers’ experience better. Customer Service Week gives us an opportunity to celebrate our people and renew our commitment to putting the customer at the centre of everything we do.”
She added that the evolving expectations of customers require financial institutions to continuously improve how they deliver their services.
“Our customers are changing, and their expectations are changing with them. We must therefore continue to challenge ourselves to be more responsive, more accessible and more innovative. The extra mile is not a destination; it is a mindset that should guide every interaction with our customers.”
The celebration will place particular emphasis on LAPO MFB’s frontline employees, whose daily interactions with customers are central to delivering the institution’s promise of improving lives.
The bank will also use its digital and social platforms to celebrate customers, share stories of exceptional service and amplify the people behind the customer experience.
Beyond Customer Service Week, LAPO MFB said its commitment to service excellence remains anchored in its core values, including People First, Integrity, Excellence, Commitment to Sustainability, Passion and Commitment, and Enterprise and Teamwork.
As the 2026 celebration approaches, LAPO MFB is inviting its employees and customers to join in recognising the power of going beyond what is expected—and making “The Extra Mile” a defining part of the customer experience.
