LAGOS, NIGERIA — September 27, 2026: A major breakthrough has been recorded in the investigation into the robbery incident involving customers of GHOST AND SPIRITS, Abule-Egba, Ekoro, following the reported apprehension of an individual captured in CCTV footage released to the public.
The suspect was reportedly identified and detained by an anonymous Nigerian citizen who recognised him from the CCTV images and subsequently alerted the relevant authorities.
According to information available to the management of GHOST AND SPIRITS, the suspect was initially taken to the Obasanjo Police Station in Ota, Ogun State, before subsequently being brought to GHOST AND SPIRITS for identification and confirmation.
The development is believed to represent a significant step forward in the investigation, particularly following the appeal by the management of GHOST AND SPIRITS for members of the public to provide credible information that could assist the authorities in identifying those allegedly responsible for the incident.
SUSPECT PROVIDES INFORMATION ON OTHER ALLEGED MEMBERS
During preliminary questioning, the apprehended suspect reportedly provided information concerning other individuals he claimed were members of the group allegedly involved in the robbery.
He reportedly told investigators that some of the other suspected members were staying at a hotel.
The information has subsequently been handed over to the police for verification and further investigation. Authorities are expected to establish the accuracy of the information, identify the individuals mentioned and determine whether they have any connection with the incident.
The claims made by the apprehended suspect remain subject to police investigation and independent verification.
₦5 MILLION REWARD TO BE DISBURSED
The latest development comes after GHOST AND SPIRITS management announced a ₦5 million reward for credible information leading to the identification and apprehension of those responsible for the robbery.
Following the reported identification and apprehension of the individual through information supplied by a member of the public, the ₦5 million reward is set to be disbursed by the owner of GHOST AND SPIRITS, Charles Lawal.
The reward is expected to recognise the contribution of the anonymous Nigerian citizen whose information reportedly enabled the authorities to apprehend the individual captured in the CCTV footage.
The management had earlier appealed to members of the public with useful information to come forward and assist the investigation.
SEARCH FOR OTHER SUSPECTS CONTINUES
Meanwhile, efforts are reportedly ongoing to locate and apprehend other suspected members of the group.
Information allegedly provided by the apprehended suspect is being subjected to verification as investigators work to establish the identities, locations and possible roles of other persons who may have been connected to the robbery.
The management of GHOST AND SPIRITS has expressed hope that the ongoing investigation will lead to the apprehension of any other individuals found to be connected to the incident.
Those apprehended are expected to be handed over to the appropriate authorities for investigation and, where applicable, prosecution in accordance with Nigerian law.

While the latest development represents an important breakthrough, the allegations against the apprehended suspect and any other individuals identified in connection with the case remain subject to investigation.
