The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has released fresh guidelines for prospective corps members ahead of the forthcoming orientation exercise, urging them to prioritise their safety by avoiding night travel and ensuring all registration requirements are completed before arriving at camp.
In a notice shared on its official X account on Monday, the scheme advised prospective corps members not to embark on journeys to their respective orientation camps at night, stressing the importance of personal safety during transit.
The NYSC also warned that prospective corps members whose dates of graduation on their call up letters do not correspond with the dates on their statements of results will not be registered at the orientation camps.
According to the scheme, affected candidates are expected to resolve such discrepancies with their Student Affairs Officers (SAOs) before reporting for the orientation exercise.
The agency further reminded prospective corps members to complete all necessary documentation before arriving at camp, including printing, signing and submitting the required registration form during the registration process.
For candidates seeking corrections to their dates of birth, the NYSC directed them to obtain a 19 or 20 digit WAEC Verification PIN and complete the correction process through their personal dashboards on the NYSC portal.
The process requires applicants to access the “Correction of Date of Birth” section, enter their WAEC Verification PIN, select the appropriate WAEC examination type, year of examination and examination number before verifying and submitting the request.
The NYSC urged all prospective corps members to strictly comply with the outlined guidelines to ensure a seamless registration process and avoid unnecessary delays or challenges during the forthcoming orientation exercise.
