The Kebbi State High Court judge, Hon. Justice Faruku Hassan Bunza, who was abducted about a week ago, has regained his freedom and safely reunited with his family.
A family member confirmed the development on Monday, revealing that the judge returned home after spending one week in captivity.
According to the family, Justice Bunza’s return has brought immense relief and gratitude.
“We are in jubilation and full of gratitude to God for seeing our own return safely from captivity. He was just released and has returned home after spending one week with the bandits,” the family member said.
The family also expressed appreciation to the Kebbi State Judiciary, security agencies, and residents of the state for their support, prayers, and words of encouragement throughout the period of the judge’s abduction.
“We sincerely thank and appreciate the Kebbi State Judiciary, the security agencies, and the entire people of Kebbi State who contributed in different ways, offered prayers, and sent messages of sympathy. Your concern and support gave us strength, and we are grateful for your solidarity,” the relative added.
The source disclosed that further details surrounding Justice Bunza’s release would be communicated at a later time.
As of the time of filing this report, neither the Kebbi State Judiciary nor security agencies had issued an official statement regarding the circumstances of his release.
Justice Bunza’s abduction, which occurred last week, drew widespread concern across Kebbi State, prompting calls from residents, legal practitioners, and other stakeholders for his immediate and unconditional release. His safe return has now brought an end to days of uncertainty surrounding the incident.
