Today marks two years since you left us, yet your presence, legacy, and impact remain evergreen and deeply woven into the fabric of our lives.
You were more than a father; you were a custodian of Nigeria’s musical heritage, a man who dedicated his life to preserving the nation’s rich musical history. Your work was never driven by personal gain, but by the profound belief that future generations deserved to know, appreciate, and celebrate the wealth of our cultural and musical heritage.
I witnessed firsthand how freely you gave of your time, knowledge, resources, and compassion. You opened your doors to countless people across generations without expecting anything in return. You touched innumerable lives in ways that words can scarcely capture. For many, you were the foremost reference point for Nigeria’s and Africa’s heritage music across different eras.
Daddy, every visit to your music library keeps the memory of you alive.
The shelves, the records, cassettes, gramophones, reel-to-reel tapes, and countless collections that you so passionately preserved continue to whisper stories of your life, your dedication, and your unwavering love for music.
Though your voice is no longer heard among us, the values you lived by, the memories you shared, and the legacy you built have been carefully preserved through your Music Heritage Foundation.
Today, as we remember you, we celebrate not only the father you were to us but also the remarkable human being you were to society. Your selfless contributions to humanity and your tireless efforts in safeguarding our musical heritage will continue to inspire generations to come.
