The Executive Chairman of Onigbongbo Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Moyosore Adebanjo, embarked on a historic official visit to the City of Brampton, Ontario, Canada, to establish bilateral relationships between both municipalities and open new opportunities for collaboration in governance, innovation, environmental sustainability, youth development, and economic growth.

The ongoing engagement, which follows a formal invitation from the Mayor of Brampton, His Worship Patrick Brown, has already yielded significant outcomes, including the formal establishment of institutional ties between the City of Brampton and Onigbongbo LCDA, creating a framework for future cooperation in key areas of mutual interest.
As part of the engagements, the Onigbongbo delegation has been introduced to Brampton’s recycling and waste management systems, with discussions focused on exploring practical solutions and knowledge-sharing opportunities that can support efforts to address environmental and waste management challenges within Onigbongbo LCDA.
The delegation also held strategic meetings at BHive, Brampton’s innovation and business incubation hub, where discussions centered on creating opportunities for young innovators and entrepreneurs from Onigbongbo LCDA to participate in innovation, mentorship, incubation, and technology exchange programmes.
Officials of Brampton’s Economic Development Department further explored potential areas of economic cooperation, including investment promotion, business expansion support, and opportunities surrounding the development of Onigbongbo’s Cane Village and other local economic assets.
In addition, Brampton’s legislative arm has expressed readiness to host members of the Onigbongbo Legislative Council for governance and legislative exchange programmes aimed at sharing best practices in local administration, lawmaking, and public service delivery.
Speaking during the visit, Hon. Moyosore Adebanjo described the engagement as a major step towards positioning Onigbongbo LCDA as a globally connected local government committed to innovation, sustainable development, and international cooperation.
“This relationship is not just about diplomacy; it is about creating opportunities, attracting ideas, and building partnerships that will positively impact the lives of our people.”
Further engagements are expected as discussions continue between both municipalities on areas of mutual benefit and long-term collaboration
