In line with the Executive Chairman’s Letter “E” of his FINE Agenda, which emphasizes Ensuring the Well-being of the People, Hon. Moyosore Adebanjo hosted the first edition of the Onigbongbo LCDA Mega Health Outreach, offering comprehensive healthcare services to more than 500 residents in Onigbongbo LCDA.
The impactful event was held at Bola Memorial Anglican Primary School on Mobolaji Bank Anthony Way, GRA Ikeja. It attracted a large number of community members who benefited from a variety of free medical services aimed at raising health awareness, promoting preventive care and improving access to quality healthcare.
At the event were the Executive Chairman, Vice Chairman, Ward Councillors, Supervisors, Special Advisers and key stakeholders, all united in support of a healthier Onigbongbo.
A key highlight was an extensive health education session, during which medical professionals sensitised residents on chronic illnesses like hypertension and diabetes, stressing the importance of early detection, healthy living and regular medical checkups.
Residents gained access to several free healthcare services which include basic vital signs checks (height, weight, and BMI), random Blood Glucose Testing, blood Pressure Screening and rapid Diagnostic Malaria Testing. Others are free medical consultations with qualified doctors and free medications for various health conditions.
The outreach also featured a dedicated eye care section where residents underwent basic eye screenings, received free reading glasses, and got medications for different eye-related issues.
Furthermore, a family planning unit was available, where healthcare professionals educated residents on reproductive health and provided information about various contraceptive methods accessible to the community.
During the event, Hon. Moyosore Adebanjo expressed heartfelt appreciation to residents for their enthusiastic turnout and trust in the initiative. He urged community members to stay engaged and to speak out on pressing issues and matters requiring government intervention.
He also assured everyone that this outreach is just the beginning of many more people-centered healthcare programs that his administration will continue to implement.
Last year, over 200 elderly residents were enrolled in the Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA) Ilera Eko Health Insurance Scheme, ensuring many of Onigbongbo LCDA’s senior citizens gained access to affordable and reliable healthcare.
This year, the chairman is committed to increasing that number so that more vulnerable residents can benefit.
Additionally, infrastructural improvements at Onigbongbo LCDA Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs) are set to commence soon, aimed at enhancing service delivery, improving patient experience, and strengthening access to quality healthcare at the grassroots level.
The chairman reaffirmed that the health and wellbeing of Onigbongbo residents remains a top priority for his administration, emphasizing that governance must continually deliver practical and measurable benefits to the people.
