Dr. Obafemi Hamzat has secured the endorsement of Nigeria’s President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the 2027 Lagos State governorship election, with the development confirmed on April 29, 2026.
The endorsement marks a significant moment in the build-up to the next electoral cycle in Lagos, widely regarded as Nigeria’s economic nerve centre. Dr. Hamzat described the president’s backing as a strong vote of confidence, noting that he fully understands the responsibility that comes with the decision.
