The Bayelsa State Government has declared Friday, April 10, 2026, a work-free day to enable residents participate in activities marking the visit of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to the state.
The announcement was made in a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information, Orientation and Strategy, Ebiuwou Koku-Obiyai, who also confirmed that markets across the state would be closed during the visit.
According to the state government, the president is expected on a one-day official visit to inaugurate several key infrastructure projects.
These include a state-owned gas turbine at Opolo-Elebele, a 60-kilometre dual carriageway stretching from Onopa to the LNG axis, and a 630-metre bridge linking Angiama to Oporoma in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area.
In a separate statement, Governor Douye Diri welcomed the president, describing the visit as a reflection of strong collaboration between the Federal Government and subnational governments in driving development.
He noted that the projects to be commissioned represent efforts to improve infrastructure and enhance economic growth in the state.
The governor also commended the president’s economic reforms, stating that they have strengthened the financial capacity of states and enabled the execution of impactful projects.
Residents are expected to turn out in large numbers to receive the president and witness the commissioning of the projects.
