Yusuf Buhari has declared his intention to contest for a seat in the House of Representatives ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The development was confirmed on Monday by Bashir Ahmad, who disclosed that the aspiring candidate had formally notified key political stakeholders of his ambition.
In a letter dated April 3, Yusuf Buhari expressed his desire to represent the Sandamu/Daura/Mai’Adua Federal Constituency in Katsina State under the platform of the All Progressives Congress.
According to him, the decision followed extensive consultations and was driven by a commitment to contribute meaningfully to governance and grassroots development in his constituency.
He stated that his ambition is aimed at providing quality leadership, promoting infrastructural development, and enhancing human capital within the constituency.
Yusuf Buhari also appealed to stakeholders for their support and encouragement, noting that their backing would be instrumental to the success of his political bid.
Ahmad, in a post on social media, reiterated that the move came after wide-ranging consultations with political allies and community leaders, describing the decision as a step toward active participation in Nigeria’s democratic process.
The announcement marks Yusuf Buhari’s first known foray into partisan politics, as preparations gradually intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections.
