Basirat Damilola Marshall, daughter of renowned Fuji musician King Wasiu Ayinde Marshall, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, has declared her intention to contest in the 2027 Lagos State House of Assembly election for Surulere Constituency II.
Damilola, who currently serves as Senior Special Assistant to the Lagos State Governor on Tourism, Arts and Culture, said her ambition is driven by a desire to represent the interests and aspirations of young people in the state.
In a message shared on her social media platforms, she expressed readiness to step into leadership and contribute meaningfully to governance.
“I am excited to share that I, Barrister Damilola Ayinde Marshall, am stepping forward to serve the good people of Surulere Constituency II at the Lagos State House of Assembly. I am a woman of excellence and results. I am ready to serve and lead,” she said.
She noted that her 12 years of legal practice have equipped her with a deeper understanding of governance, justice and the needs of the people.
According to her, the experience has prepared her to advocate effectively for issues that matter to her constituents.
Damilola also pledged to serve as a strong voice for young people if elected, emphasizing her connection with the youth demographic.
“I promise to be the voice of the youths in the House. I listen to the youths because I am one of you, and I understand what we truly need. That is exactly why I’m here to serve,” she added.
Her declaration adds to the growing list of aspirants positioning ahead of the 2027 general elections in Lagos State.
