The Government of Ghana has initiated an emergency evacuation plan for its citizens in Qatar amid escalating tensions in the Middle East caused by the ongoing conflict involving Iran, Israel, and the United States.
The Embassy of the Republic of Ghana in Qatar announced on March 15, 2026, that Ghanaians wishing to be evacuated must submit the biodata pages of their passports via email to the embassy to facilitate the process. The evacuation is strictly one-way, returning citizens from Qatar to Ghana.
The embassy stated the exercise was introduced due to heightened security concerns in the region, emphasizing the government’s commitment to protecting the safety of its nationals abroad. “The Government of the Republic of Ghana has decided to undertake an emergency evacuation exercise in Qatar in the wake of the heightened security situation in the region,” the statement said.
Officials urged Ghanaians in Qatar to confirm their participation promptly to ensure smooth coordination. The move reflects Ghana’s proactive approach in safeguarding citizens during international crises and underscores the seriousness of the current security situation in the Middle East.
