The Anambra State Government has entered into a strategic partnership with Dhahran Techno Valley Holding Company, a science and technology hub based in the Saudi Arabia, to boost collaboration in research, innovation, entrepreneurship and technology commercialisation.
The partnership was formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding signed between the state’s Solution Innovation District and Dhahran Techno Valley Holding Company during a high-level innovation engagement held in Beijing, China.
According to a statement issued by the Anambra State Commissioner for Information, Law Mefor, the agreement marks the beginning of a strategic collaboration aimed at accelerating innovation-driven economic growth across Africa and the Middle East.
Under the terms of the MoU, both organisations will collaborate in key areas including startup and venture acceleration through joint accelerator programmes and venture-building initiatives in sectors such as energy, sustainability and emerging technologies.
The agreement also provides for the development of frameworks that will enable co-investment in high-potential startups and transformative technologies, while encouraging the exchange of expertise, best practices and insights to strengthen research, development and technology commercialisation.
As part of the partnership, both sides will establish networking and collaboration platforms that will connect startups, investors, researchers and industry leaders. They also plan to jointly host international summits, workshops and business-to-business meetings aimed at promoting global innovation linkages.
The Chief Executive Officer of Solution Innovation District and Special Adviser to the Anambra State Governor on Innovation and Business Incubation, Chinwe Okoli, described the partnership as a major milestone for the state and Nigeria’s innovation ecosystem.
She said the collaboration reflects the commitment of the Solution Innovation District to building international partnerships that will accelerate technology development, commercialisation and sustainable economic growth.
Okoli noted that the partnership would create opportunities for startups, researchers and industry stakeholders to work together in developing solutions that address global challenges and promote inclusive economic development.
On his part, the Chief Executive Officer of Dhahran Techno Valley Holding Company, Mohammed Abusharifah, said the agreement aligns with the organisation’s mission of strengthening global technology partnerships.
Abusharifah said the collaboration would help bridge world-class research with entrepreneurial innovation, adding that the partnership would encourage greater exchange of talent, expertise and investment between both innovation hubs.
The Solution Innovation District is an initiative of the Anambra State Government focused on fostering innovation, entrepreneurship and technology commercialisation by working with startups, researchers and industry leaders to drive inclusive economic transformation.
Dhahran Techno Valley Holding Company, based in Saudi Arabia, operates as a science and technology hub that promotes research and development collaboration, technology commercialisation and industry partnerships, while supporting sustainable economic growth through access to funding, mentorship and global networking opportunities.
