The Nigerian gospel music community has been thrown into mourning following the death of renowned gospel singer and evangelist Toun Soetan at the age of 73.
News of her passing was confirmed on social media by gospel comedian and pastor Woli Agba and fellow musician Peter Olaniyi, who both paid tribute to the late singer.
Woli Agba described the deceased as a legendary figure whose life and ministry were devoted to glorifying Jesus Christ. In his tribute, he said the late singer remained consistent in her message and lifestyle of faith until her passing, praying that God would comfort her husband and family.
Peter Olaniyi also mourned the singer, describing her as another legend lost in the gospel music ministry while extending condolences to her family and husband, Titus Soetan.
Following the announcement of her death, fans, gospel artistes and admirers have continued to express their condolences online, celebrating her legacy as a mentor and source of inspiration to many in the gospel music community.
The late singer was widely known for several gospel songs that gained popularity in Christian worship circles across Nigeria, including the widely cherished track Darling Jesus. She was also known for other notable songs such as Ke Pe Jesu and Cast Your Burdens, which remain popular in church gatherings and worship sessions.
