The Oyo State Police Command has confirmed an attack by suspected bandits on the National Park Service office in Oloka, Orire Local Government Area of the state, during which two persons were reportedly killed.
The incident, according to information obtained by TVC News, occurred at about 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday when armed men believed to be bandits stormed the National Park facility and attacked officers on duty.
Confirming the development, the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, said the police received distress calls on the attack and immediately activated security response mechanisms.
Although the police spokesperson did not officially confirm the number of casualties, he disclosed that the Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, Femi Haruna, along with other security service chiefs, was on the way to the scene to assess the situation and coordinate further security operations.
DSP Olayinka added that the commissioner of police has ordered the deployment of tactical teams, operatives of the Mobile Police Force, conventional police units, and the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit to the area.
He said the deployment is aimed at restoring calm, preventing any further breakdown of law and order, and flushing out the perpetrators of the attack.
