The Chief of Staff and Media Adviser to Senator Solomon Adeola, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriation, Chief Kayode Odunaro, has been installed as the Osorun of Isaga-Orile Kingdom, one of the key kingmaker titles in Abeokuta North Local Government Area of Ogun State.
The installation ceremony, performed by the Onisaga of Isaga-Orile, Oba Joseph Tella, took place at the weekend and marked the revival of a family legacy. Odunaro explained that the Osorun title has traditionally belonged to his lineage and was last held by his uncle, who was installed in 1958 and passed away in 1988.
Speaking with journalists shortly after the ceremony, Odunaro said the honour would enable him to reconnect with his roots and play an active role in the affairs of the Isaga traditional council, particularly in the selection of a new monarch when necessary.
“I am delighted to be installed as the Osorun of Isaga-Orile. This title is a higher call to traditional responsibility, and I intend to use my experience from public service to contribute to the growth and development of our community,” he stated.
Odunaro, who also holds the title of Baa’royin of Imala Kingdom, expressed appreciation to Oba Tella, the Isaga-Orile Traditional Council, and the Osorun family for restoring the honour to his household. He pledged to use his new role to promote grassroots development and encourage greater investment in local communities.
The former Chief Press Secretary to ex-Ogun State Governor Aremo Olusegun Osoba added that he would bring to bear the expertise gained from serving as spokesperson to three administrations—both military and civilian—in the state.
In Yoruba traditional governance, kingmakers play crucial roles in the selection and endorsement of new monarchs. The Osorun title, according to palace sources, is one of the most significant chieftaincy positions within the Isaga-Orile council.
With this installation, Odunaro continues a family tradition while strengthening his involvement in community leadership and cultural preservation.
