Ibadan, September 26, 2025 — Muslim and Christian clerics on Friday led special prayers at the coronation of former Oyo State governor, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, who was installed as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland.
The prayers, held at the Ose Meji Temple in Ibadan South-East Local Government Area, marked one of the key traditional rites in the coronation process.
Earlier, Ladoja had received the symbolic Akoko leaf at the Labosinde Compound, Oja’ba, Ibadan, a customary step in the enthronement of an Olubadan.
The new monarch is expected to be formally presented with the staff and instrument of office later in the day by Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde at the historic Mapo Hall, where dignitaries from across the country have gathered for the event.
