Ibadan, September 26, 2025 — All is set for the coronation of Senator Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland, with the historic ceremony scheduled to take place on Friday at Mapo Hall, the traditional seat of authority in the city.
The ancient venue has been adorned for the occasion, as Ibadan braces to host an array of dignitaries from across Nigeria.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, top government officials, prominent traditional rulers, and other distinguished guests are expected to grace the colourful installation, which will formally confer on Ladoja the staff of office as Ibadan’s paramount ruler.
Security has been tightened across the city, while cultural groups and residents are preparing to showcase the rich heritage of Ibadanland at the event.
The coronation marks a new chapter in the leadership of Ibadan, following Ladoja’s emergence in line with the city’s unique rotational succession system.
