Jigawa State House of Assembly has approved a ₦58 billion supplementary budget for the 2025 fiscal year, raising the state’s total appropriation to ₦756.3 billion.
The approval followed the adoption of a report presented at plenary on Thursday by the Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriations, Ibrahim Hamza-Adamu.
Hamza-Adamu explained that the supplementary budget was necessitated by additional revenue inflows expected from the federation account.
“The 2025 Appropriation Law provided ₦698.3 billion for recurrent and capital expenditure. With the additional ₦58 billion, the total appropriation for the year will now be ₦756.3 billion,” he told lawmakers.
He also urged the House to strengthen oversight functions to ensure the supplementary funds are utilised strictly for approved purposes.
The motion, presided over by Deputy Speaker Sani Isiyaku, was unanimously adopted by members.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that the Assembly passed the state’s ₦689.3 billion Appropriation Bill for 2025 on December 31, 2024. Tagged “Budget of Innovation and Transformation for Greater Jigawa,” the plan earmarked ₦90.7 billion for personnel costs, ₦70 billion for recurrent expenditure, and ₦537 billion for capital projects.
In addition, ₦17 billion was allocated to the 27 local government councils across the state.
