Lagos, September 22, 2025 — Toyota has unveiled the 2026 Corolla Cross, a compact SUV designed to balance affordability, practicality, and modern features. Positioned as a family-friendly vehicle with hybrid efficiency, the latest model is expected to strengthen Toyota’s presence in the competitive subcompact SUV segment.
Pricing and Trim Options
The 2026 Corolla Cross will start at $26,085 for the base L trim, including destination fees. Mid-range trims include the LE ($28,415), which adds wireless phone charging and safety upgrades, and the XLE ($30,010) with larger wheels and enhanced digital displays. Hybrid variants begin with the S model at $30,445, with the top-tier Hybrid XSE priced at $34,480. All-wheel drive is available across the lineup for an additional $1,300.
Performance and Fuel Economy
Gas-powered versions feature a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine producing 169 horsepower and paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT). The SUV accelerates from 0–60 mph in about eight seconds and offers 31 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway. Hybrid models combine a gasoline engine with electric motors, generating 196 horsepower and achieving an estimated 45 mpg combined, with improved acceleration due to electric torque.
The Corolla Cross is also capable of towing up to 1,500 pounds, making it suitable for light recreational use.
Interior and Technology
Inside, the SUV offers seating for five and up to 52 cubic feet of cargo space with the rear seats folded. Standard features include an 8-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while higher trims offer a 10.5-inch display and a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster. Comfort amenities include heated seats and a fold-flat rear bench.
Safety Features
Every 2026 Corolla Cross is equipped with Toyota Safety Sense 3.0, which includes adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alerts.
Market Outlook
Industry observers note that Toyota is positioning the Corolla Cross as an affordable yet feature-packed SUV for both urban drivers and long-distance commuters. With its hybrid options, competitive pricing, and emphasis on safety, analysts predict strong demand when sales begin later this year.
