September 19, 2025 – A Canada-based Nigerian leadership coach and author, Peter Adeleke, has officially entered the Guinness World Records after delivering the longest leadership lesson in history.
Adeleke achieved the feat on August 30, 2025, in Calgary, Canada, by teaching for 28 hours and 45 minutes, surpassing the previous record of 24 hours.
Confirming the achievement, Guinness World Records (GWR) stated on its website:
“The longest leadership lesson is 28 hr 45 min and was achieved by Peter Adeleke (Canada), in Calgary, Canada. Peter is an author, speaker, and qualified leadership expert. He set out to achieve a record in the field to change the narrative of leadership. He hopes to raise the bar in leadership development and spark conversation around transformational leadership.”
Adeleke, who initially aimed for a 30–48-hour teaching marathon, celebrated the recognition in an Instagram post on Monday, where he shared a screenshot of the GWR confirmation email.
“It’s official! I am humbled and honoured to announce that I am now a Guinness World Records holder for the longest leadership lesson in history,” he wrote.
Reflecting on why he did not reach his 48-hour target, Adeleke explained:
“Originally, I had set out to teach for 48 hours, but I completed the feat in 28 hours instead. Success isn’t always about hitting the exact target you set. It’s about pushing boundaries, discovering your true limits, and creating meaningful impact along the way.”
His record adds to the growing list of Nigerians achieving international recognition through Guinness World Records.
Just last week, Nigerian chef Hilda Baci set a new world record for the largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice, weighing 8,780 kilogrammes, at the Gino World Jollof Festival in Lagos. Baci also previously made history in May 2023, when she cooked continuously for 93 hours and 11 minutes to claim the record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual.
Adeleke’s accomplishment is seen as a milestone for African leadership development, spotlighting resilience, innovation, and the pursuit of excellence on the global stage.
