The Imo State Government has placed an immediate ban on the sale of land and construction activities within the Naze and Naze North industrial layouts in Owerri.
Governor Hope Uzodimma issued the directive through a statement released on Monday by the Commissioner for Industry, Mines and Solid Minerals, Chief Ernest Ibejiako.
According to the statement, all forms of construction, development, or erection of structures within the layouts are strictly prohibited. Property owners have also been ordered to submit their title documents to the Ministry of Industry, Mines and Solid Minerals for verification without delay.
The government warned that violators of the directive would face severe sanctions, including revocation of property rights, demolition of illegal structures, and prosecution.
“The government will not hesitate to enforce strict compliance with this order,” the statement added.
The move comes as part of efforts by the state government to regulate and preserve designated industrial zones.
