The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has inaugurated a three-man Asset Recovery Panel to reclaim properties and resources allegedly mismanaged or wrongfully appropriated by past leaders.
The move was announced by AGN National President, Dr. Emeka Rollas, during an interactive session with the Guild’s Board of Trustees (BOT) on Wednesday in Abuja, where the Guild also formally presented its new national secretariat.
The panel is chaired by Onwurah Ifeanyi, with Garba Muazu as Secretary and Sydney Diala as a member.
Rollas explained that the committee is mandated to trace, identify, and recover assets belonging to the Guild, including cars, buses, furnished offices, landed property, and equipment. He added that the panel would work closely with government agencies such as the Police, EFCC, and ICPC to ensure accountability.
“Over the past two decades, the Guild has lost several valued assets through mismanagement or wrongful appropriation,” Rollas said. “This step will not only restore what is rightfully ours but also strengthen accountability and integrity in our institution.”
He noted that as he serves out his final tenure, the BOT has already inaugurated a National Electoral Committee to conduct AGN’s next election. Rollas also highlighted achievements under his leadership, including improved unity within the Guild, the introduction of a retail health management plan, and the launch of the AGN Super App to provide members with access to rewards, opportunities, and vital information.
Responding, BOT Secretary Sonny McDon praised Rollas for his commitment, saying: “Against all odds, you have proven that to whom much is given, much is expected, and you have not fallen short. We are proud of your administration and fully support your efforts.”
