UYO, July 8, 2025 — Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has approved a ₦20,000 monthly allowance for all National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members of Akwa Ibom origin serving across Nigeria.
This latest gesture follows the recent increase in allowances for corps members currently posted to the state, which was raised from ₦5,000 to ₦20,000 per month, with effect from August 1, 2025.
According to a statement issued by the Government House in Uyo on Tuesday, the approval was part of the resolutions adopted at the State Executive Council meeting held on Monday.
Governor Eno described the decision as a major component of his administration’s Renewed Hope – ARISE Youth Support Initiative, aimed at alleviating economic hardship and promoting youth welfare.
“This decision aligns with the Renewed Hope – ARISE Youth Support Initiative,” the governor was quoted as saying. “It is intended to cushion living expenses and promote the well-being of corps members of Akwa Ibom origin, whether they are serving within or outside the state.”
The state government also reiterated its commitment to youth development through education, skill acquisition, and economic empowerment programmes targeted at building a self-reliant and prosperous generation of Akwa Ibomites.
