The National Universities Commission (NUC) has granted full accreditation to 31 academic programmes across three Nigerian institutions: Ekiti State University (EKSU), Ado-Ekiti; Ajayi Crowther University (ACU), Oyo; and the Federal Polytechnic, Ayede in Oyo State.
According to official communications dated April 30, 2025, and signed by the NUC’s Acting Director of Accreditation, Abraham Chundusu, EKSU received full accreditation for 18 undergraduate and postgraduate programmes following the commission’s October/November 2024 accreditation exercise.
Programmes granted full approval at EKSU include Master’s degrees in Personnel Management, Finance, Public Administration, Business Administration, and Philosophy, as well as disciplines such as Arabic Studies, Islamic Studies, and Arts. Others include Building and Woodwork Technology Education, Electrical and Electronic Technology Education, Civil Engineering, Law, Computer Engineering, Psychology, and more.
The university’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatola Ayodele, hailed the development as a “dream come true,” praising the commitment of both academic and administrative staff. He added that the accreditation reinforced EKSU’s standing as “the best state university in Nigeria,” citing the 2025 Times Higher Education rankings.
Ajayi Crowther University also received full accreditation from the NUC for nine academic programmes, including Nursing, Environmental Health Science, Christian Religious Studies, History and International Studies, Music, Performing Arts, Law, Mathematics, and Statistics. In addition, its Master of Business Administration programme was approved.
Similarly, the Federal Polytechnic, Ayede secured accreditation from the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) for four National Diploma programmes, solidifying its growing academic profile.
The approvals represent a significant milestone for the institutions and reaffirm their commitment to delivering quality education across a range of critical academic fields.
