After ten days of intensive electoral process in electing political leaders in different elective positions of authority in the United States of America, a phenomenal history was made. I know it sounds a bit out of place to allude the emergence of former Vice President of the United States of America from 2008-2016, Senator Joseph Robinette Biden Jr.  as the 46th President of the United States of America going by his track records as an elected U.S Senator representing Delaware at age 29.

The President-Elect of the United States is a man of extraordinary fate and demeanour having watered the stormy waters of life’s ills when he lost his wife and daughter in a ghastly motor mishap shortly after he was elected on the floor of the US Senate as the sixth youngest senator in the year 1972. Yes! He made history by his consistently fighting with an undoubtedly unique American spirit despite the tragedies that befell him. He held onto the railings of faith even when it didn’t make any sense. Losing his son, Beau, at age 45, during his Vice Presidency during the Obama administration tells more than an audacious faith. This was a symphony of history ringing loud in the ears.

Joe Biden made history as the first elected President of the United States to have a black Vice President, Kamala Harris. Interestingly, he was the Vice President to Barack Obama as the 44th elected President of the United States. His emergence at the time when the United States of America and other nations of the world are fighting the deadly coronavirus peaks his sense of commitment to serve humanity. The Delaware Senator was at different times in Senatorial careers, a distinguished member and Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. His wealth of experience would be needed more than ever before in quelling the raging fire of consternation this present administration helped in igniting among several nations of the world.

Biden’s articulation in firmly opposing the Gulf War of 1991, his support for extensive NATO alliance into Eastern Europe in the Yugoslav Wars of the 1990s is commendable of a staunch Commander-in-Chief. Biden historic landmarks sprawls through the decades as evidenced by his failed attempts at clinching the presidential ticket of Democratic Party. The ongoing wars of terrorism and undefeated anarchy in the middle east and other troubled zones of the world would be a major priority as well as setting the landscape for a comely US foreign relations policy.

A man whose historic feats in fighting the Mohammedian renegades whose incursion caused a major global shaking on September 11, 2001 by giving a nod to the resolution by the US Senate authorizing the Iraq War in 2002 to bring the rogues to book is old in number not at heart. Biden was the Chairman, Senate Judiciary Committee from 1987 to 1995. His mandate was seeing to drug policies, crime prevention, civil liberties issues; the enactment of Violent Crime Control, Law Enforcement Act, Violence Against Women Act including the superseding the proceedings for the appointment of U.S. Supreme Court confirmation.

As the old saying goes, Birds of the same feather flock together. His decision to have running mate, Vice-President-elect Kamala Harris alludes to Biden’s belief in a common humanity. Kamala Devi Harris, a Junior California Senator and US attorney is the first African American and first female Vice President of the United States of America.

Both President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect, Kamala Devi Harris both pulled a historic over 74,939, 396 popular votes, a first in the over 200 years of the North American country’s democracy. The distinguished Senators Joe Biden and Kamala Harris scored 290 electoral votes on an average of 50.6% after winning Pennsylvania.

Since the announcement of the Democratic Party Presidential and Vice-Presidential Candidates, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris respectively as the winner of the fiercely contested presidential polls, congratulatory messages keep pouring from all corners of the world.

Amongst the global leaders that penned some glowing tributes to the newly elected US President is the British Prime Minister, Boris Johnson who wrote in a tweet: “The US is our most important ally and I look forward to working closely together on our shared priorities, from climate change to trade and security”. Same tone of excitement was echoed by his Nigerian counterpart, President Muhammadu Buhari (GCFR) in a statement that read: ‘’I am thrilled by the fact that you are an experienced politician who had served as Congressman for 40 years and a Vice President for eight years. This is a remarkable track record that gives us hope that you will add value to the presidency and world affairs’’.
