A high powered delegation from the University of Lagos Alumni Association and Security Unit visited the the Executive Chairman of Onigbongbo LCDA, Hon. Moyosore Adebanjo. The delegation was led by Prof. Bayo Oladipo, Dean of the Faculty of Education, and the Coordinating Officer of the University’s Security Unit, Mr. David Omotosho.
Prof. Oladipo warmly introduced members of the delegation from the Faculty of Education before handing over to Mr. Omotosho for the presentation of the members of his team. In his remarks, Prof. Oladipo described the Chairman as a proud product of the University of Lagos and the Faculty of Education and applauded his rise from academia into purposeful leadership.
Mr. Omotosho also rejoiced with the Chairman on his emergence as Executive Chairman, recalling his long history of leadership and service dating back to his undergraduate days. He noted that Hon. Adebanjo, as a former Hall Chairman, distinguished himself early as a committed leader and strong agent of positive change, particularly in the fight against crime within the University community.
In his response, Hon. Adebanjo expressed deep appreciation to his alma mater and especially to the Dean of his Faculty for the visit. He emphasized that the University of Lagos played a pivotal role in shaping his leadership journey. He recounted how he transformed his hall of residence from 16th to 3rd position during his tenure, and how he became the first student to be congratulated by the University Senate and the first student leader to work directly with the Security Unit.
The Chairman reaffirmed his commitment to giving back to his university and announced a donation to the Security Unit for the acquisition of modern gadgets that would ease their operations. He praised their tireless efforts in safeguarding lives and property within the University and encouraged them to remain steadfast.
Speaking further, Hon. Adebanjo charged members of the delegation to remain committed to their personal growth and civic responsibilities, reminding them, “Your dreams are valid, and you have not yet reached your final destination.”He also urged them to participate actively in the democratic process by completing their Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) pre-registration and ensuring they are ready to contribute to nation-building through the ballot
