Nigeria’s Flying Eagles will take on reigning champions Senegal in the quarter-finals of the 2025 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) on Monday, May 12, in Egypt.
The highly anticipated clash was confirmed after Senegal sealed a 2-0 victory over DR Congo in their final Group C match on Thursday, securing their place at the top of the group.
Nigeria booked their quarter-final spot on Wednesday following a hard-fought 2-2 draw against Kenya in their last Group B fixture. The result saw the Flying Eagles finish second in the group with five points, behind Morocco, who defeated Tunisia 3-1 to claim the top spot.
The upcoming encounter poses a tough challenge for Nigeria, as Senegal have shown a mix of grit and form throughout the tournament and are seeking to defend their title.
