President Bola Tinubu has mourned the passing of Alhaji Isyaku Ibrahim, a prominent businessman, politician, and sports promoter, who died on Saturday in Abuja at the age of 88.
In a statement issued on Sunday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President extended condolences to Ibrahim’s family, associates, and the people of Nasarawa State.
Tinubu described the late elder statesman, who hailed from Wamba, Nasarawa State, as a patriotic Nigerian who made significant contributions in business, politics, and community development.
“President Tinubu acknowledged the deceased’s contributions to Nigeria through his chain of businesses, political involvement, and community leadership,” the statement read.
Ibrahim was a chieftain of the defunct National Party of Nigeria (NPN) during the Second Republic and later played a key role in the formation of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 1998. Beyond politics, he left a mark in sports as the founder of Mighty Jets Football Club of Jos, which thrived for decades and produced many football talents.
The President also commiserated with the government and people of Nasarawa State, praying for the repose of the late politician’s soul.
