President Bola Tinubu will return to Abuja on Tuesday, September 16, to resume official duties after ending his vacation earlier than scheduled.
The President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, announced the development in a statement on Monday.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has concluded his work vacation ahead of schedule and will return to Abuja on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, to resume official duties,” Onanuga said.
Tinubu departed Nigeria for France on September 4 to spend part of his annual holiday, with plans to split the period between France and the United Kingdom. While in Paris, he held a private luncheon with French President Emmanuel Macron at the Élysée Palace, where both leaders discussed strengthening bilateral cooperation.
This was Tinubu’s seventh trip to Paris since assuming office in May 2023, and his first international engagement since the BRICS summit in July and the TICAD9 conference in Japan in August.
So far in 2025, Tinubu has undertaken 15 foreign trips to 11 countries, including Ghana, the United Arab Emirates, Tanzania, Ethiopia, the United Kingdom, and France, attending summits, bilateral meetings, and presidential inaugurations.
His first trip of the year was to Accra, Ghana, on January 6, where he attended the inauguration of President John Dramani Mahama the following day. Later in January, he visited the UAE for the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Summit, before traveling to Tanzania for the Africa Heads of State Energy Summit.
In February, the President joined other leaders at the 37th African Union Summit in Ethiopia, where discussions focused on security, climate action, and trade integration. He also embarked on a two-week working visit to France and the UK in April.
