Gov. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto state has described his Delta State counterpart Sen. Ifeanyi Okowa as a veritable asset to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the country.
Gov. Tambuwal stated this Thursday in Asaba, Delta State capital when he commissioned a 1.88 kilometer road named after the late First Lady, Mrs Maryam Ibrahim Babangida.
He also commissioned the 7.5 kilometers Ogwashi-Uku/Ubulu-Unor road in Aniocha South local government area of the state,
just as he inspected an isolation center at the Federal Medical Center, Asaba, which construction predates the outbreak of Covid 19.
According to him, the party is very lucky to have Gov. Okowa in its fold because of his complex organization skills, which has stood him out so far.
He said as a complex organizer who has been providing leadership in all spheres of life in his state, the governor despite huge financial challenges has been able to pay salary of workers promptly and done more by providing infrastructural development.
“I am aware that Gov. Okowa is always the party’s choice whenever the need arises to organize peaceful and good party functions,” Tambuwal added.
Describing the governor as a “calm, stable and accommodating leader,” Tambuwal recalled
“that the last time he organized the party convention in Port Harcourt, it was a successful outing with which all party men were happy,” he added.
In his remarks before Maryam Babangida road was commissioned, Gov. Okowa said Gov. Tambuwal is “a true and dependable friend of Delta state.”
He said the Maryam Babangida Road is a very important which does not only immortalize the late First Lady, who was citizen of the state but also houses important offices in the state such as two state secretariats, the Court of Appeal complex, the state wing of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), the state library, hotels and many other facilities.
He also added that those who had important businesses that were initially affected by the dualization of the road “are today also happy that the government took the right decision to dualize the road.”
Gov. Tambuwal was accompanied during the commissioning by the Director General of the People’s Democratic Party Governors Forum (PDP-GF), C.I.D. Maduabum, Sen. Ahmed Muhammed Maccido and Barrister Paul Kazim.
