Abuja, June 30, 2025 — Nigerian musician and internet personality, Darlington Okoye, popularly known as Speed Darlington, has defiantly rejected an arrest warrant issued by the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), declaring that he will not respond to the agency’s summons.
NAPTIP had on Friday declared Okoye wanted over alleged involvement in rape, cyberbullying, and cyberstalking, urging the public to provide information on his whereabouts.
In a video posted to his YouTube channel on Monday, Okoye dismissed the allegations as baseless and accused the agency of attempting to use him for publicity.
“I’m not coming. You hear me? I’m not coming. I have not committed any crime. All I did was speak,” the entertainer said, insisting that the charges were fabricated and that no official complainant or evidence had been presented against him.
Mocking the agency’s declaration, Okoye claimed NAPTIP was trying to gain “social media clout” by involving a celebrity. “You want to use me to collect social media clout? Hey, look at us. We summoned a celebrity and he came,” he said.
The controversial artist further derided the agency’s invitation as psychological manipulation, stating that he would only honour it if he was paid a performance fee.
“2.5 million is what I charge for my appearance. You want to pay me 2.5 million plus round trip tickets for me and my PA? Because I call that appearance,” he said.
Referring to his earlier Instagram livestream, which reportedly triggered the allegations, Okoye insisted, “There is no crime. All I did was try to claim it. You have no evidence. You have nothing. So me coming here is a waste of my time.”
NAPTIP has not yet issued a response to Okoye’s latest remarks, but the agency reiterated its call for public assistance in locating the artist.
