Vice-President Kashim Shettima on Saturday attended the wedding fatiha of Halima Junaid, granddaughter of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari, and Mr. Walid Muazu, son of Iyan Katagum, in Kaduna.
The ceremony took place at Yahaya Road Juma’at Mosque, Ungwan Rimi, within Kaduna metropolis.
Shettima, who stood in for the bride, was accompanied by top government officials including Deputy Chief of Staff to the President, Senator Ibrahim Hadejia; Minister of Environment, Alhaji Balarabe Lawal; Minister of Transportation, Senator Sa’idu Alkali; and House of Representatives member, Lawal Zannah. Alhaji Shehu Muazu stood for the groom.
Prominent personalities at the event included former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami (SAN); former EFCC Chairman, Abdulrasheed Bawa; Yusuf Muhammadu Buhari; and former Director-General of the State Security Service, Malam Yusuf Bichi, among others.
After the wedding, the Vice-President proceeded to the residence of the late President, where he conveyed President Bola Tinubu’s greetings and continued support to the Buhari family. He also offered condolences to the former First Lady, Aisha Muhammadu Buhari.
“I came to Kaduna to attend the wedding of Halima Junaid and decided to come and greet you and console you. May Allah grant the soul of the late President eternal rest and give you the fortitude to bear the loss,” Shettima said.
Shettima also visited the APC National Vice Chairman (North West), Alhaji Garba Datti Muhammad, to commiserate with him over the death of his son, reiterating President Tinubu’s message of sympathy.
