Osogbo, July 19, 2025 — Senator Francis Fadahunsi, representing Osun East Senatorial District, has officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), ending his long-standing association with the party.
In a resignation letter dated June 12, 2025, and addressed to the PDP Ward 4 Chairman in Obokun Local Government Area of Osun State, Senator Fadahunsi attributed his decision to the “irreparable, irreconcilable differences and protracted legal battles” that have engulfed the party since the 2023 general elections.
The letter, obtained by Punch Online, revealed that the senator reached the decision after extensive consultations with his political associates, family, and friends.
“I wish to formally notify you that I am resigning my membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with immediate effect,” the senator wrote. “This was concluded after consultation and engagement with my political associates, family, and friends. It is my wish that you accept my resignation in good faith.”
Fadahunsi, who currently chairs the Senate Committee on Industry, lamented the persistent internal crises within the PDP, describing them as unresolved and damaging to the party’s prospects.
His exit adds to the growing list of prominent defections from the PDP amid ongoing turbulence within the party’s national structure. The development is expected to further reshape the political landscape in Osun State and at the federal level ahead of future elections.
