Lagos, April 30, 2025 — Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has called on young men and women in Lagos State to seize the opportunity to enlist in the Nigerian Army, highlighting the evolving nature of military service and its potential for personal and professional growth.
The governor made the appeal during a stakeholder engagement held at the palace of the Olofin of Isheri Olofin, where he was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, ‘Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin. The event aimed to mobilise support for the ongoing recruitment exercise for the 89 Regular Recruits Intake for Trades and Non-Tradesmen/Women, which closes on Saturday, May 17, 2025.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by Olumuyiwa Ojelabi from the Office of the Secretary to the State Government, Sanwo-Olu encouraged parents, youths, community leaders, and artisans to rethink their views on military careers.
“It is time for all stakeholders to rethink their perceptions of military careers. Today’s Army offers vast opportunities beyond the battlefield, with technology, education, and career development now forming integral parts of service life,” Salu-Hundeyin said on the governor’s behalf.
The engagement sought to raise awareness about the numerous benefits of military service, including access to technical training, academic advancement, and long-term career prospects.
