Oyo State — Popular Nigerian comedian and skitmaker, Sanku, has died in a fatal car accident along Ogbomoso Road in Oyo State.
His death was confirmed on Monday by fellow actor Yemi Elesho, who shared the news on his social media platforms.
According to eyewitnesses, the crash left several passengers injured. Influencer Jidex, who posted a video of the mangled vehicle, revealed that Sanku and another victim were critically injured, with the skitmaker later succumbing to his wounds.
“This is heartbreaking. Someone who left home in good health is suddenly gone. It is painful, especially coming just a day after the passing of Phyna’s sister, Ruth Otabor,” Jidex wrote.
The comedian’s death has sparked an outpouring of grief across the entertainment industry. Nollywood actress Funmi Awelewa expressed her sorrow, writing: “The pain, the effort, the strength, the struggle… walai nothing make sense. I’m heartbroken. Even film sef never come out! It does not make sense.”
Sanku, who was widely celebrated for his humorous skits, had only weeks earlier shared a comic video portraying himself in heaven after death, a clip now being widely recirculated online by grieving fans.
His passing adds to the string of recent tragedies that have shaken Nigeria’s entertainment community.
