Pillow Whispers, a commune of like-minds, friendly cohorts of professionals from different walks of life bounded by a singular purpose of love, charity and oneness held the fourth edition of its annual Meet and Greet outing at 10, Akin Osiyemi Street, off Allen avenue.
Under the auspices of the MEET AND GREET session, the yearly gathering of the different icons of several private and public establishments, affords all, the opportunity of physical interaction, celebrating each other and most importantly fostering the umbrella philosophy of the Pillow Whispers which is targeted at promoting fulfilled life-long goals and sustainable relationships.
Since inception, the Pillow Whispers has remained true to this dedicated stance, glued by the One-for-All, All-for-One mantra – a Utopic co-existence of men and women, not limited by their social standings, devoid of biases or prejudices.
One peculiar feature that stands the Pillow Whispers out is her attention to details. No wonder the venue of the event held the requisite allure and excellent touch of what the group upholds. Upon entering the premises of the event place, the graffiti on walls, arrays of beautiful flowers, well laid in a flower vase, created the scenic beauty that accompanies members of the Pillow Whispers afore. The outstretched AstroTurf gleamed in fine green, so surreal that it was almost impossible not to believe that it was a ground décor.
Upon entering the hall, the white background of the hall made it feel that one was almost enwrapped in heavenly realms with copious sitting areas sprawled with leather sofas and wooden chairs. The colours of the official blue T-shirt gorgeously worn by members, became the signpost of the well-attended commemorative occasion.
The first business of the days was a medical routine check-up (comprising of BP Hepatitis B check, sugar level, general body assessment and psychological evaluation) for all members (who had earlier filled the register). This was facilitated by Dr. Ogunyale a.k.a Afrika, an astounding medical practitioner, astute and empathic person and member of the Pillow Whispers group. Members had exchanged hi’s, as a prelude to the commencement of the event proper while the medicals was going on. After the Medical session, the event kicked off fully.
The MC, witty and funny, made members laugh endlessly with his occasional banter with other members. As an accustomed non-conformist, whose contrary views on the group mostly always spark reactions from all and sundry, he enacted some of his usual gimmicks which elicited more cracking of the ribs.
President of Pillow Whispers, Folasade Oyesola (Shadz), a soft-spoken, middle-aged lady, thanked all members for making out time to be at the event against all odds. She also prayed for the success of the event and the onward progress of Pillow Whispers. The Convener, Mrs. Adejoke a.k.a Olori AJ, in her larger-than-life posture, thanked everyone for coming out and promised that the outing will be nothing short of entertainment, fun and significant networking.
After which, the Item 7 rolled in various classes of food: finger foods, well-spiced jollof rice, delicious vegetable soup among others, thanks to the culinary genius of Eno – an actress, caterer, event planner and a member of the group. There was so much to drink as well.
It was fun all the way, as DJ Roland, a wizard on the wheels of steel, dished out sounds from the good old days (when men were still boys, and women were girls) intermittently laced with contemporary Nigerian music. Some of the members couldn’t keep calm in their seats and let the music fizzle in the air as they stood up and boogied it down like it should be. Some didn’t hesitate to do some slides, shakes and break dance etc.
Certificate were presented to all the Admin members and well-deserving members of the group, in different capacities of service and leadership. Gifts were also shared to members followed by a cake cutting and photo session.
And the dance went on and on – late into the night.
